It wasn’t until I was on maternity leave last year that I had a life-changing realization: I can no longer rely solely on my 9-5 job to support my family and live the life I envision.
I work as a Registered Nurse in an administrative role at a family-owned private company—one that unfortunately does not offer paid maternity leave. During those three months at home, I found myself counting pennies, stretched thin both financially and emotionally. I was fortunate to be offered the option to work four hours a day from home at nearly half my usual hourly pay. But let’s be honest—that’s not what any new mom wants to do while navigating exhaustion, healing from childbirth, and caring for a newborn. It was a harsh wake-up call.
Even though I genuinely love what I do, the reality is that my job takes a lot out of me—not just during the day, but also when I’m supposed to be off the clock. The paperwork follows me home. The mental exhaustion lingers. And worst of all, it robs me of time with the people who matter most—my family.
That was the turning point.
I knew something had to change. I started searching for an alternative path—one that would allow me to create financial stability without sacrificing my presence at home. A path that aligned with my values, honored my expertise, and gave me the freedom to breathe, grow, and truly be present.
That’s why I began building something of my own.
